Garth Irvine began compounding gins and selling them, as part of a college module project in 2016.
From those early lessons and beginnings, he finally opened Copeland Distillery in 2019 in the picturesque coastal village of Donaghadee, Co Down, along the Ard’s peninsula.
Copeland is currently the smallest whiskey distillery on the island of Ireland, by copper pot still capacity. It is a charming distillery that allows visitors to sit on a balcony alongside the production floor, whilst enjoying a wee tea and bun and watching the distilling maestros at work.
At Cork Whiskey Fest 2025, Gareth will bring some amazing cask samples, hand-picked from their warehouse to showcase the amazing flavours being created in Ireland’s smallest boutique distillery.
